Posted - 12 September 2008 : 17:46:14 i am 32 and was discharged from my bankruptcy after 6 months earlier this year- i was bankrupt due to debt spiralling out of control when i was off for a long period of time due to illness. i am now planning on going back to study for a degree at university and i would need to apply for a student loan. would my being a discharged bankrupt affect this? could they refuse me because of my bankruptcy? any info or advice would be welcome, thanks

If you're applying to the Student Loan Company, it is unlikely your BR will have any bearing on their decision as these loans are government-backed.

There was a post regarding this recently, which I've posted a link to below. Unfortunately nobody knew for sure the SLC's policy on this, but there is some info on there you might find useful.
