i am 32 and was discharged from my bankruptcy after 6 months earlier this year- i was bankrupt due to debt spiralling out of control when i was off for a long period of time due to illness. i am now planning on going back to study for a degree at university and i would need to apply for a student loan. would my being a discharged bankrupt affect this? could they refuse me because of my bankruptcy? any info or advice would be welcome, thanks

Hi ech19 and welcome!

There was a post regarding this recently, which I've posted a link to below. Unfortunately nobody knew for sure the SLC's policy on this, but there is some info on there you might find useful.

Hope it helps a little!

Take care,

Hi ECH19,

If you're applying to the Student Loan Company, it is unlikely your BR will have any bearing on their decision as these loans are government-backed.
