Posted - 08 October 2008 : 17:57:43 Hi folks,
I have just reduced what was my building and contents insurance for my mortgaged home to contents only for the rented house we move into on the weekend. When I was reading through the paperwork, under the 'qualification acceptance' part, it said 'never been declared bankrupt'.
Now I've been with this company a while, 2/3 years. So can I take it the insurance would be void, because i'm BR now?
I'm reluctant to tell them about my BR, but guess I will have to, they may demand payment for the year up front, or not cover me at all. The only way I can think of is to transfer the cover into my wifes name.
Anyone have any thoughts/ideas on this?
Many thanks

Im with More Than an di called them about mine and me being a BR and they said they were not worried.
Can you call them anonymously and just see what they say.
Best of luck

Posted - 08 October 2008 : 18:07:03 Hi gp ,
I would suggest you would be best cancelling the policy and starting a new one in your wifes name ( as long as she isnt BR as well ) as in the event of a claim the insurance could well be voided as one of the statement of facts is untrue . Insurance companies generally try to find any reason not to pay out if they can help it and this would be a great ' get out ' for them .
Its purely an opinion gp , and im sure other members will post their thoughts as well ,
Take care ,
Andy |
