Posted - 14 October 2008 : 13:51:36 Hi there,
Please can you answer me a question, I have debts still of approx £9 ish k left from my previous marriage. ( ex hubby had Bi Polar and run up lots of debts but obviously those he run up in my name, and the loan for our wedding (taken in my name) remained my debts). I don’t own my own home and my car is worth less then about £1500 so I cant see I have any equity really.
I am struggling to make any payments on them at all and therefore think Bankruptcy is my only solution to this, if this were the case moving forward how would this affect my new partner? We are due to get married and then live together in April (as we don’t currently) and I don’t want him being “lumbered” with any of my previous debts, or being held accountable for them.
If I do this am I best doing it before we get married and he moves in etc, and what things do I need to be aware of?
I apprecaite your help! |
