Posted - 20 December 2008 : 08:10:50 Hi
you need to have been living in the UK at some time in the last 3 years to petition while abroad - otherwise you will need to come back to the UK and reside here to do it.
It is called a Lasting Power of Attorner and can take up to 12 weeks to get authorisd by the Govt deoartment. Also costs £150
Petitioning for Br will cost £507 because it is in the High Court in London.
You would need to either fly back and do it yourself or hire a company to do it for you

Posted - 20 December 2008 : 07:31:34 Thanks for your reply, plenty of work here for semi-skilled sparkies/plumbers/joiners/teachers. After you get over the holiday honeymoon feel you soon settle in here with plenty of ex-pats in Auckland and North Shore, most things are now on par with UK, food, house prices, but more to see and less population. Been here now for 2 years no regrets didn't come here with rose tinted glasses NZ does have some problems but nowhere near on the scale of UK.
Thanks |

Hello,
You can apply for bankruptcy outside of the uk, however, you will have to appoint a trustee (i think that is what it is called) - and that will cost you money to do that.
It is better to do it yourself, however, i think you have to have been residing in the UK at the same address for 3-6 months before you can decalre bankruptcy.
I would give the help line a call...just to be sure.
I am thinking about moving to New Zealand next year - well coming out on a working visa and seeing how it goes - any tips for me?!
Thanks
