Hi
I received a call from the OR today - he said the car is valued at 3300 pounds and we will have to pay the difference if we cannot proove cheaper value. They will take the car and give us 2000 pounds for it. He has suggested we get valuations and send them to him. He was very nice about it. We will not be able to find the difference.
Any advice anyone - where to go for valuations online??? If in Parkers guide which figure to go for?

Oooh I think maybe I'm too good at negotiating for my own good! Our examiner has made so many mistakes we're starting to challenge almost everything he says! :-O
Strange really from someone who up to the age of 18 didn't even have the confidence to make her own hairdressers or doctors appointment! Tee hee.
Well done Dee. Just imagine if you hadn't challenged this =] !

Dee you are absolutely entitled to stand up for your rights and there is no reason at all that you should feel bad.
you have explored all the options and have decided to use the law of the land to protect yourself from further action by the creditors.

hey Dee
Your so much like me, i hate to haggle or have confrontations. I have to know that if i am going to have to do that then the information that i am armed with needs to be correct otherwise i just crumble and give in.
You should feel so proud of yourself its great that now you can finally start to reap the rewards and get on with your new life. And i for one would like to say a very big well done and let us know how it all goes :-)
Oh and its ok to Ramble we all do it and i thinkit makes us better people ;-)

I dont actually know why!!! I guess because I still feel bad about the whole thing. I also hate confrontation unless I know I am in the right - and I feel embarrassed about the BR.
Although I now also feel releived we have done it - and nowhere near as bad about it as I did!!!

sounds like you have a reasonable OR. At least they are willing to review it which is great.
Sometimes valuations are wrong and don't resemble real life values so always worth a look.

Hi
Spoke to the OR assistant who is dealing with our case. I said very nicely that I thought the valuation on our car was out by quite alot. He said their auction houses were not infallable and to email through the prices and links from the internet. ( AA = 2,500, Parkers = 2,700) I did this on Thursday we just wait and see.

Have got two valuations from the Internet, Glass and Parkers. We will get local paper and go and see a garage or two at the weekend to see if we can get a written valuation.

Always go with the lowest value, and then get some info from local sources - second hand dealers , info on autotrader / local paper etc. Anything to demonstrate that the car is worth less.
Then go and offer a smaller amount - you can always increase the offer afterwards.
Most importantly get proof of what the car is worth as a trade price.

I am not good at negotiating - also a bit scared of winding him up. If he says it is valued at 3300 (he said earlier today) do you think we could go with the glasses guide of 3000 and the parkers of 2700, say it is worth 2850 and offer 350 ( the difference between the 2500 and the average value?) I hope my question makes sense!!!
