My phone broke today after I hit it with a stick (bad idea), so I decided to brave T Mobile and chance an upgrade. I am currently bankrupt and have never disclosed this to T-Mobile who I have had a contract with for 14 years (since the days of Mercury). The way I see it is they want the custom and I'm good customer always paying on time every month, so why ruin a good relationship?
Anyway, not only was I told I could have an upgrade, but I was also told to choose any phone I wanted, put on more minutes at a tariff that saved me £10pm and have the contract for the next 18 months! Just got to work out how to use the hi-tech phone now. Result!

To everyone,

Chances are T mobile do not carry out a credit reference check for an existing customer upgrading so Trolly was alright but anyone undischarged (or discharged) bakrupt trying to take out a contract with them would likely fail at the first hurdle.

As Paul says, if somone cuts off your phone due to BR then they should cancel out anything owed and state this as satisfied on the credit reference file when discharged is known.

Sooo scared, yes our contract bal was included in our bankruptcy, they wrote to me and billed me for the last months remaining on the contract term, luckily for me i had included this amount on my SoA just incase.

TD-

That is a nice phone, i dont like things to complicated i need to be able to call and text, thats enough for me. Have fun using it and thank you for the email ;-)

I included the phone in my BR but asked that it be considered a 'Tool of the trade' as per Julians advice. Seems the OR was fine with this for the ex and I.

T-Mobile have never mentioned our BR which is now 4 months.

I got the Nokia 6600 slide (not the iPhone but hi-tech for me as it has maps etc!!!), really nice phone.

Hi

My phones with O2 so if they read the Br in the Gazette and disconnect I take it they then send u the bill for the remainder of the contract. How does that work if u havn't added 02 as being a creditor?
Needafriend Posted - 07 January 2009 : 07:55:29
Hi Debtrider

I agree in one respect about not telling them but o2 found my details in the London Gazette.

So it must be just o2 that are useless and dont want good customers.

TD:

Well done to you, that is good news.

Which phone did you choose?

Well done Trolley-Dolly.

For anyone who is thinking of going bankrupt and your debts do not include your mobile phone contract and you want to keep it, then for heavens sake do not tell the mobile company that you have gone bankrupt. What’s the point, as long as you intend paying the monthly bill then there should not be a problem.
