I wanted to know if going bankrupt would effect me going to live abroad and for how long will it effect me getting a good mortgage rate and habing a better bank account? When the bankruptcy is put in the local paper will it state my full name, occupation and address?

Regarding upgrading your bank account, you may find you have to wait until the BR has dropped off your credit file after 6 years.

Posted - 01 February 2009 : 14:21:13 Hi Lauraj welcome to the forum As far as i know living abroead will not be a problem for you as far a mortgage goes , as soon as you are discharged you will in theory be able to get one but the rate will be higher than normal and you'll need a decent size deposit eg.30%. As far as banks go they are all different and yes the OR will put in the paper your name address not sure about your occupation.
If i;m wrong about anything ive said i'm sure someone will point you in the right direction
