I have filled out my BR forms and have them here, rang the court today and i am off on Thursday to give them over. My question is does that mean i will be bankrupt on Thursday, and do i need to take any other kind of paperwork with me to hand over. i.e. letters from creditors etc.
Sorry i know this sounds a silly question, but all of this is driving me crazey

Thanks for any help you can give me

Yes i would say take the money out of your account prior to thursday as you need to pay your bills. The Official Receiver will be fine with this - as long as your not going to be tucking hundreds away

They will find out through the london gazette advert and through the official receivers office, when they write to them.

Thanks for letting me know that, one question if you dont mind me asking, how do the bank know, i might not be allowed to ask this question and please accept my apologies, would i be better taking my money out of the account before thursday, so i have something to live on.

Your account may get frozen a few days after br, however if you are not in debt to the bank and have a very basic account then the Official Receiver may well write to the bank to say they are not interested in the account and not to freeze it. Please note it is the banks who freeze/close your account not the OR as alot of people think.

If you need to open a new account it may be worth giving the coop a telephone call or call in to your local branch the day you declare br. The Cashminder is a great account to have - you are allowed so/dd's and also get online banking facilities as well as a visa electron card.

Take care and please keep posting

Hey Pigsick and welcome to the forum

As Kallis has said you will need your fee in cash and your petition and soa (i had to have 3 copies, so it may be best to check that first otherwise the court would of chragred £15 per copy!!)

You will be made BR on Thursday and it will be so much better than you are probably imagining at present.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on

Hi and welcome.

If you have your appointment at court on Thursday, then yes, you will be bankrupt on Thursday.

You will need your forms, plus the court fee. Not sure about any other paperwork. One of the experts will be along to answer that one.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
