Posted - 07 April 2009 : 23:36:47 Have you checked your credit files with Experian, Equifax and Callcredit ??? Sometimes the creditors do not update your file as debt satisfied. If they havn't you can ask them to and if they don't the credit reference agency will sort it for you. The sooner the files are updated the sooner all the bad history goes off the file

Posted - 07 April 2009 : 18:03:02 Firstly welcome to the forum. There are things you can do to improve your credit rating, certain pre paid cards help do this. In theory you are credit worthy as soon as you are discharged but in the financial climate we are in at the moment a secured loan/mortgage would likely only be accepted with a good size deposit eg 30%. As for unsecured lending there will be some available but the interest rates will be shocking until the BR is off your credit file 6/7 years.
