Posted - 01 May 2009 : 09:54:08 Can I open a basic bank account before going bankrupt? Or do I have to wait until officially bankrupt as the OR may close it?
Thanks all for any help.

Posted - 06 May 2009 : 17:38:41 Hi, j byron, yes the full readycash account with internet. I think a lot of the time its at the discretion of the banking person. I rang the main yorkshire phone number and confirmed it with them first, then went to the local branch and asked if i'm allowed an account when going BR and that was it.
sorry to hear yours did not go ahead. good luck...with yours.

Well done on opening the account with Yorkshire, I am suprised that they allowed you an account as I tried the same thing but they turned me down straight away. Is it the full readycash account?

Posted - 01 May 2009 : 15:02:26 I have read on here recently that Yorkshire Bank are not very amenable to BR.
The Co-op are ok though.
The glimmer gets brighter all the time

Posted - 01 May 2009 : 12:12:45 Let them know that you intend to go bankrupt and dont list this new account on the bankruptcy form. Just mention to the OR in your interview that you have opened a new basic account. |

Yes you can open a basic account, I opened one with CO OP called a cashminder, its great account you get a card and can use it for direct debits etc. |

Posted - 01 May 2009 : 10:02:44 You can open an account beforehand and when you speak to the OR mention that is the account you are going to use and they will normally not bother with it.
