Hello, my husband was recently sacked from his job. I am a carer receiving only carers allowance, my husband gets Jobseekers including an amount for me and a carers premium because I am a carer. I owe £2500 in my name, my husband owes £35,500 in his name. The benefits dont even cover our household expenses so there is no disposable income. We jointly own a quarter share in a house under a shared ownership scheme with a housing asociation. The mortgage on this was paid off with money given to me as a gift by my father, but it went through our joint account and the house is in both names. If my husband should go bankrupt what happens about stuff we jointly own, including the house? I have M.E. and my autistic son in his twenties also lives with us - if he is forced to sell our quarter what happens about us, and being re-housed? Do I get to keep my own benefits/share of benefits? Help please, I am in tears.
