I have been in contact with the loan companies but they've not offered much help. I have a family in Thaialnd which I shall support until my saving srun out. After that I don't know what will happen. Please help.

Posted - 30 June 2009 : 19:59:02 You have to have been resident in the UK during the past three years to declare bankruptcy over here.
I'm not sure that coming back for holiday and registering at your address would count ripski.
Hopefully one of the experts will be along to advise.

Posted - 25 June 2009 : 15:19:33 Hi neilkung
I'm not entirely sure what your question is.
If you declare bankruptcy in the UK then your debts will be covered by the bankruptcy. However you have to be present in the UK on the day your petition is presented to Court, or been resident in the UK at any time in the 3 years ending on that day. It is possible to provide someone in the UK with a power of attorney, that would enable them to petition on your behalf, but that will incur additional costs.
