Posted - 04 December 2009 : 20:29:40 Our date for BR is on 5th January!
We need to open a Co-op Cashminder account, should we do it now? Will they swap over direct debits etc or will we have to cancel them and set them up again ourselves?
Also, are you allowed the internet and mobile phones while BR? (we have a contract with vodafone)

Posted - 08 December 2009 : 14:14:49 Thanks guys
We pay £35 for broadband/phone/internet but we pay £75 to vodafone for 4 contracts for myself and 3 daughters so I know they can always get in touch, I will be able to get this down to £60 but not until the contract is up for renewal. Will this be allowed?
I have just opened a coop cashminder account over the phone, we just need to send copies for proof of ID and address. The lady I spoke to was really helpful and said there are so many people ringing up to open an account who are going BR!
Another question...we stopped paying our gas/elec for the old mortgaged property when we moved out (which we are in arrears with) and are putting what we owe into the BR. We havn't told them our new address or that we are going BR, do I need to and will our new suppliers need to be informed?

Posted - 04 December 2009 : 21:41:17 Hi
the telephone bill for the house is usually £58. This is for all the telephone requirements & internet.
If you need internet for work or for childrens schooling then it is usually an allowable expense.
Mobiles in addition to the £58 are usually not an allowable expense ( and therefore need to be paid for out of disposable income ) unless it is a requirement of work or for safety reasons.

Is £30 mobile allowance for each person?
We do have internet/phone/tv as a package so will hopefully be allowed to keep it.
