How long will it be after being discharged from bankruptsy can I be allowed a cheque book? |

Hi again,
Just to add that I wish you well in the search for a bank that will give you a current account.
As I said, my own view is that I do not particularly want a cheque book - I may change my mind though when I am discharged.
I do miss the convenience of being able to write a cheque and have to rely on my mother in law or one of our daughters when we find something whereby we can only pay by cheque or a postal order - as much as I love and respect the post office, I do not like paying 10% for using the postal order service

each bank varies what it allows
try a few and see what they say and let us know

I don't think you'll have much luck getting a chequebook to be honest. It's nearly 3 years since I went BR and I have been told that the Co-op won't upgrade my account until the BR has dropped off my file.
I have to say I use my chequebook (I have an old pre BR account that I can still use) and I will be sorry to see them phased out. I think the latest is that they will be gone by 2018.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Congrats on being discharged - and a happy 2010 to you.
Whay do you want a cheque book - it seesm to be a dying beast and you are probably able to survive without one! I certainly do not want one again...

No exact answer to your question as each bank has its own variation
I am sure that others will comment with what bankshave been helpful to them, but failing that you may have to have a wonder around the local town or city centre.
they may even be reluctant to open new cheque accounts as the good old cheque book is being fazed out think it is going 2011
