Posted - 11 January 2010 : 17:11:31 Even if the RTLU didn't allow you all of the expenditures you mentioned the figures still don't add up. With the items not allowed and your DI of £71 you would have total DI of £300. At this amount of DI you pay an IPA of 60%, which would work out to £180 and not £225. For an IPA of £225 you would need to have a DI of £350.
Someone at the RTLU has not only disallowed you legitimate expenses but hasn't been able to add the figures correctly.

Posted - 11 January 2010 : 16:56:18 Other than the domestic break and the Internet I cannot see a problem with the other items. The Internet is normally only allowed for education purposes.
If I were you I would refuse to sign the IPA and fight the issue. If the RTLU want to force you to pay this amount they will have to put this before a judge and I cannot see the judge not allowing most of these.
Contact the RTLU and tell them that you need:
Car maintenance £60 AA £12 Pet insurance £26 Dry cleaning £10 Swimming £15
This would make a DI of £177 (current DI of £71 + Internet + Domestic break) so you would pay 50% of this.
The other option is to fight for the domestic break and Internet but the Internet is only normally allowed for education purposes (does your son need it for school) and the domestic break isn't a definite expense.
