Hi, just wondering if you're asked "have you ever been declared bankrupt" when applying for a Cashminder account? I told the Branch Manager about my bankruptcy prior to the account application, so was never asked. Cheers, T.

Hi D&C,

As long as you don't owe them money, it will be down to your bank manager's discretion.

Hi Julian

Ok thanks for your reply. I currently have 2 Basic Bank Accounts - 1 with RBS and 1 with Natwest which I set up thinking I was going into an IVA.

Do you think I will be able to keep these open once BR?

I need a Bank Account for my pay to go into and bills to come out from.

Hi D&C,

It is unlikely that anyone you owed money to when you went BR will give you an account.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but does nayone know if it is possible to get a Cashminder Account if the Co-op were one of your creditors?

Hi I was not asked about my BR when i applied and opened mine.
I did however mention to them and they said NO problem.
I did mine same day we went BR.

Hi Paul, thanks for that info, but I was just wondering if you're asked the specific question when applying on the phone / at the branch.

Ahh, that will be why my friend is panicing about opening one!

Hi

This account is specifically designed for folks with challenging situations so Br is not a problem.

I have only had people declined if they are not on the electoral register so efectively the bank can't find them.
