Hi,

I've got my date for my declaration of bankruptcy 28th March. Now, my bank account is very much overdrawn, do I now stop using my debit card as the money in the bank is the banks - although I've no money?!

Many thanks,
Steve

Hopefully it will.

Hi,
Thanks for that, was told my name would go on the register within a couple of days of them having the forms back, so hoping that will happen.

Thanks,
Steve

If you're not on the register then it will be referred and I think you may well have to provide them with proof of identity. Not sure how long it takes for you to go on the electoral roll once you fill the forms in - it's usually done once a year.

Don't know if you will get a BRO or not.

Hi Melanie and thanks,

I've phoned co-op for a cash minder account but they have referred it, I think it is something to do with not being on the electoral register, sent off for the forms to get on it - although they did say I have to phone them back in next few days as it takes longer due to me going to declare bankruptcy. I've got another thread going about me taking out a car loan 7 months ago, will I get a BRO due to this?

Many thanks again,
Steve

Hello there

it is advisable that you try to stop incurring additional debt - but most people end up at their overdraft max by the time of filing for bankruptcy purely funding day to day expenditure

Have you started the process to open a new basic account yet, if not get this done as soon as possible as it can take up to 10 days to organise
