I have a joint mortgare with my partner, I am on maternity leave at present my partner has left me I can't pay the mortgage on the property and we are in negative equity of £15k what can I do ?

As I said,
you should seriously consider going to your local CAB, who will give confidential and impartial advice about your current circumstances.

They can even 'negotiate' on your behalf, and most lenders look favourably on people who have sought such professional advice.

That has also been my personal experience.

If you have any joint debts at all then you will both be responsible equally for them.

Your partner is still jointly responsible for your mortgage.

CAB will probably be your first port of call.

Hi Sue,

Sorry to hear you're having to go through this.

I suggest you speak to the mortgage company and try and arrange a payment break whilst you decide what to do.

Have you any unsecured debts?
