I was discharged from bankruptcy in May 2009. I have not cleared up my credit file. Is it true the file will clear itself up after 6 years anyway? What happens after 6 years? Many thanks Angie
After 6 years the BR will drop off your credit file. Any defaults will remain until 6 years after they we issued, regardless of whether your BR has dropped off.
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.
Any defaults will remain 6 years after they were issued regardless of bankruptcy? If defaults are issued is not bankruptcy the next step? How does bankruptcy go away after 6 years and defaults still remain? Any totally confused?
You need to clean up your credit file and make sure none of your creditors have issued defaults after your bankruptcy date. If they have you need to contact them, if they haven't then the defaults will drop off at the same time as the bankruptcy.
