Hi,
I have been paying 8% into a cmpany pension scheme and have an annual window to change this contirbution (up or down) in 10 days.
Should I reduce it? I have been paying 8% for 12 months, prior to that it was 6%.
What I dont want to happen is for the OR to say I am paying in too much and force me to reduce the payment or take the extra 2% out of spare income. I cant go to work and change my contribution after the window closes, and this could be awkward if I have to approach them. Dont want to bump it down unecessarily though.
Thanks

Personally I would not increase your pension contribution so soon to declaring yourself bankrupt.

Hi,
I am asking if I should reduce it not increase it. I dont want to be forced to decrease it if deemed too high (i havent ramped it up prior to bankcruptcy, but increased last may from 6 to 8%).

My apologies - I misread your post. I would leave the pension as it is until you are bankrupt, then wait and see what the OR has to say.

Thanks,
By which point I will have missed my window to make a change and this will have to come out of residual income I am guessing.
