hi,

I got a letter from CAB at the weekend re my applicatio to them to do some voluntary workinn the local bureau. So on Wed next week im meeting with them to discuss how i can get involved. They seemed pretty keen on the housing / hmelessness background so hoping it will be of use to them.

I know you mentioned you are doing some work with them at the moment aswel. How long have you been with them , how many hours do you give them per week. Have you know any volunteers to be offered employment from their volunteerinng ?

Sorry lots of questions.

The letter says that if i require childcare in ordr to give them my time that they will fund the nursery for me.

Quite looking forward to it , nervous at the same time.

Hi,

I have been doing vol work for about 6 months - still going through their accredited training...!!

I get a high degree of satisfaction from going in - although having been a Director of Housing and had my own consultancy, I get a bit frustrated sometimes as they go through a strict pattern of dealing with issues.. No thinking "outside of the box"

I do know of people who have got work from voluntary work - I had the chance a while back, but it was not viable as it was 18 hrs a week. Lots of "lady Bountifuls" I am afraid...

I was a red under the bed in my young days - but now, I am almost a TORY!! Have given up on New Labour I am afraid.

I am doing a day a week on average and get my travel expences

I do some odds and ends here and there to keep me thinking and employable.

I am sure you have a lot to offer the CAB and I wish you well - come back when you have attended and let me know how you got on.
