hi and welcome to the forum
the COOP are very BR friendly ask for a cashminder account
you can apply over the phone or in branch
you do not need to live near a branch as any post office will handle cash and cheques in and cash out
they also do online banking and bill payment

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurhman)
RevivaUK and Paul Johns helped me through it all i can't recommend them enough!!

Their is also Barclays Bank who offfer an account called cashcard, it comes with a visa debit card online banking and branch banking but not post office banking you have to apply at branch for it
Or the managed account services such as cardone (doesnt do direct debits), thinkbanking, securetrust or clearcash (you dont get your own bank account number or allowance to do direct debits)

Best of luck
