if i declare bankrupt...would this affect my current private rented place, im pregnant..so would affect my maternity benefits? and also any future immigration applications i may plan to do in next four years?

Hi

The OR may write to your landlord. You may wish to ask the OR not to do so, and provide the tenancy agreement and proof that the rent is paid when due.

If you were a council or housing association tenant or a private sector tenant then you would be safe.

If you are a private tenant, the landlord COULD serve you with notice if they were concerned about you being BR.

However, my view is that as a BR you are likely to be a better risk to the landlord as, (1) you have no debt and (2) you can not get into debt whilst BR

When I mentioned to the OR during the interview that I could provide a copy of the rental agreement they almost bit my hand off! I forwarded a copy and they never bothered contacting my landlord.

The OR can check from your bank statements that you are up to date with the rent so if you also provide the rental agreement there really isn't any need for them to contact the landlord.

Your maternity benefits are safe so there is no need to worry about them.

Don't worry about the rented accommodation either unless you have arrears. Most landlords are happy when they have a tenant that doesn't wreck the place and pays the bills on time.
