I had my interview with the OR on wednesday, they said they will send out someone to value my car.He came out on thursday and valued it at £2500. He sent in the report to the OR but they have said they are not intersted in it and left it in the hands of the valuers who have said if i pay £500 to them i can keep the car.It is quite a coincidence that in the interview with the OR they said it would cost them £500 to send the valuer out, is the anything i can do?

Hi Taz

you can challenge the valuation but you will need fairly concrete information.

if you do not pay the £500 they can choose to sell the car on your behalf.

you can try to negotiate the price

good luck Richard

You could always take it to a couple of garages to be valued. Ask for a written valuation and if it is lower than £2500 you can forward the valuations to the OR.

The other option is to allow the OR to take the car and then they will give you up to £2000 to buy another one as it sounds like they have already excluded the car from BR.

If your current car is reliable I would try to keep hold of it as you could end up getting another car that has nothing but problems and ends up costing you a lot of money for repairs.

Thanks for the replys. You say if they take the car they will give me UP to 2000, where will they get the figure to give me the amount back and when will they give me the money for another car due to me not being able to get to work without it.
