Hi Dez I started straight away with a Cashcard Plus card this is a pay as you go card you top up,they charge a fee of £4.95 a month and provide a free credit builder facility. I also have a Vanquis Card which I applied for after discharge, beware the intrest they charge its horrendous but if you pay the balance in full every month its a good tool for builing your credit rating.
Capital One also have a card which they advertise as being aimed at people who have been discharged or who need to improve their credit rating, this is one to avoid at the moment they refused me because my rating was so poor. Important to remember that a refusal will leave a negative footprint on your credit file. Hopes this helps. Good Luck
you need to make sure that your files held with the Credit Rreference Agencies have been updated to show you are discharged and all the debts included in BR are now showing as settled or partly settled or satisfied. There is a procedure to do this and a link to money saving expert forum that tells you what to do. When you have done this then you can apply for a capital one card and a vanquis card and a catalogue, be careful of the very high interest rates charged .
