My brother is currently living with my partner and myself. If he declares himself bankrupt will it effect us in any way

Not unless you have any joint debts with him. BR only affects the person who declares BR and not anyone else living at the same address.

After he declares BR it may be a good idea to check equifax and experian, some times marks are put against properties but this can easily be reversed by a letter of dissassociation
