 Is there anything I can do to declare a person bankrupt?

I know someone who should have declared themselves bankrupt 2/3 years ago - is there anything I can do to declare that person bankrupt ?

I believe you can declare anyone bankrupt who owes you £750 or more but it will probably cost you up to £2k to declare them BR.

This is why very few creditors will actually declare someone BR as they would rather just sell the debt on to a Debt Collection Agency.

Hi Sarah,

Is it someone who owes you money, or is it someone you are concerned about, perhaps a friend or family member?


If it's someone you're worried about, you can't actually declare bankruptcy for them, but maybe you could try and get them to visit the local citizens advice bureau for some help, or perhaps see if they want to speak to a couple of experts on here.
