my parents bought my brother a car 4 years ago, i was sorting it all out as it was done online, the car was bought in my name and money went through me, however my mum and dad had given me the money for it, and everymonth they would pay the instalment. i have never used the car although my name is on the insurance its only so we could get it cheaper. few months ago i transfered it to my brothers name as quite a few times he was stopped and they kept asking this car is registered to a woman. so i thought this would be a lot easier for him. i'm worried that the or may want to take this car and it has abs nothing to do with me. Can they do this? The car is no longer in my name. Would the OR understand that this is not my car?? please help.
The OR will check the DVLA, and if a car was in your name, they will want to see that you received fair value for it and it was not a transaction undervalue. The argument you will need to make is the difference between registered keeper and legal owner.
