I owe British Gas about £800. I am presently on Jobseekers allowance and cant pay the debt, but can barely pay what is due monthly. How can I get British Gas to write-off the debt, as I am not in a situation to pay back.

Hi and welcome.

If you have no assets, such as owning your own house, you could consider a Debt Relief Order. It will cost you £90 and the debt will be written off after twelve months. If you're on JSA then you will have less than £50 per month DI so it could be an option.

Speak to the CAB, they will be able to advise you about that.

Buckle your seat belt Dorothy, 'cos Kansas is going bye bye.
