Hi, I have unsecured debts of 50000, jointly with my ex-wife. I now am living with someone else, and paying her rent. If I went bankrupted would any if her assets be taken into account. |

Hi and welcome,
No, your partners assets will be quite safe.

Thanks, but what about the fact I'm giving her rent, would I need a tenancy agreement of something ?

You possibly would need one to prove to the OR that you are paying her rent.

Hi Graham, it's highly unlikely that your partners assets would be considered. When the case clerk at the OR office does the initial searches, they will do a search on the land registry, to establish who owns the property, if its just in your partners name, then no further action is taken. But as Kallis said, you would possibly need some sort of agreement to show that you are paying rent as part of your expenditure.
