Hello again, I was driving home from poorly paid work in a little car that I may no longer have soon, and was wondering whether it would actually benefit me financially if I get a better paid job in my profession of experience in such early stages of BR? I guess the OR will take all surplus I earn so is it best that I just stay in a stress free part time job for now anyway. Otherwise I'd be stressing myself out in a fairly high level job for nothing really apart from te stress of knowing that all of my working effort will be for nothing...I've sort of decided I think. I can't do with any more stress! Widge |

enjoy the post BR rest bite (it took my wife about 4 months to come back to the lovely destressed her)
you will be suprised how much emotion and feelings you have built up over the time.
Get yourself right and refreshed ready to go again.
Then get the job that suits you and your families needs.
this time you may not have to get the high level job as you may not have the debts driving you to work at higher earning level

Hi Widge
I too hadn't realised how much stress I was under in post/early BR. I thought I was coping really well but I wasn't!! Ended up having a month off work in order to get myself sorted. Back in work now & feeling good.
Your number 1 priority has to be 'you'! You won't be able to earn any money if you end up ill so be careful.

Apologies for being off topic, I wonder if RichardP could contact me as I think I am in a similar situation to his BR, and would really like to ask his advice away from the forum. My temporary email is GoMan135. Many Thanks

Hi Go Man
I am sorry that I have not listed an email address on the forum (yet). as such my correspondence on here is cyber space, this will change shortly.
Paul at Reviva looked after my whole bankruptcy, he is a great source of knowledge and information, both he and tracey (administrator) have contact email for me. If you speak to either of them and they are prepared to forward your email address to me I will happily spend some time discussing and sharing options with you.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Hi GoMan and Co. So back to my original question. If offered, would it be silly of me to accept a job that would pay 4x what I earn now? Right now I would have no surplus income but with a better paid job I would have plenty that the OR would probably take, and what would I gain from that?!!! |

My view is you need to think of the future. Yes you will get an IPA, but if it was a really good opportunity is it worth losing that opportunity to avoid an IPA?

Hi Tracey, Thanks for that. I've been thinking about i quite a bit and I want to make a new start in work too, so now I'm out of the profession that I am qualified and experienced for do I care? The answer is no, not really. I think I'd be better of in mind and body in a less stressful occupation while I get myself through the BR. Widge |

I agree with Rich. Whilst I can appreciate that it doesnt feel worth all the effort especially if you arent going to reap the financial rewards, think of the other benefits of getting back into a career you have probably worked so hard at in the past. If you sit back for 12 months, are you going to have the same opportunity. But then, is it going to be too stressful?. Now that you dont have the same stresses over your debts, is it going to be less stressful for you? Nobody can make the decision for you but at least we can throw in some things to consider and help you see the bigger picture. |

Thanks Rich and Crazee, I won't discount either staying in my current job where money just trickles in, and continue looking and applying for more appropriate jobs. Eventually the right thing will turn up and now I have a low but steady income guaranteed with a position that has recently been made permanent I can relax a bit with the job search and afford to be choosy about my next move. I keep checking the specialist web sites and am informed by word of mouth by my ex-bosses (who are now close friends) so I think something will turn up. Having thoughabout it more, if the 'idea' job came up, I'd be pretty silly not to consider it because of the BR. Thank you for your support - its always good to have a 'sounding board' from people who understand! Its a lovely day today with sun shining and it makes all the diffrence to heightening the mood and feeling more positive. Let's hope it's a nice sunny day on Wednesday when I'm due in court! Good luck with whatever you decide. As you say, you have an income coming in and can afford to be choosy, which is a good position to be in, BR or not!
Good luck for Wednesday x

Here here Widge - I truly believe that things tend to 'turn out in the wash' When the right opportunity pops itself right before your eyes - that sure is a sign. May the sun keep shining on through for you on Wednesday Widge. And even if its raining - may it wash away those troubles and cares. |
