Hi, Was just wondering if the OR does decide to keep my partners car, currently valued at 900 pounds on parkers,is there a possibility that his dad can buy the car instead of them selling it at auction etc. |

Yes there is. I was told that if I couldn't keep my car then a third party could make an offer for it.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Hi Choccie
is your partner declaring BR ? if not no need to loose car
if so, your partner is entitled to a vehicle (nominal value under 2K) providing they are working or hunting work.

Hi Choccie
sorry just read your other posts .. confirming husband BR and that he is actively seeking work, car should be safe

Thanks Tracey and Richard for your replies
I know at the end of the day its only a car and other people may have bigger worries but my partner is a car enthusiast and loves his car,it may not seem much to some people but it means a lot to him i just hope he can keep it. |

I completely understand, losing my car was my main worry. I remember when I was waiting for the OR to confirm whether I could keep it, I phoned my OH in a real state and announced to him (in floods of tears!) that I was going to be housebound!
When the OR said I could keep the car I was ecstatic. The stupid thing was I hated the car!
I hope your OH can keep his x

I think I found out the day after I went BR.
My drama queen moment was because the examiner phoned me and spoke to me about the car and told me she would have to look into it and would let me know 'at some point'. I had to phone her back later that day with some bank account details and she said that she had looked into it and I could keep the car.
I think I was lucky though, as I don't think it's usually that quick.

If it's worth £900 then I think you will be able to keep it.
