hi all,
almost finished with this damn ipa but it looks like we could be on strike by the summer if hutton's disgraceful pension reforms are accepted and implemented by the government.
last thing i want to do is go on strike but at the same time i'm gonna support the union on this.
obviously i won't be paid if we go on strike so if it goes on a while will i be able to defer payments to moonbeaver if i ain't got no money or what happens in this type of situation?

| yes the OR simply takes what surplus is available so if yur income changes for any reason you should contact moonbeever at the earliest opportunity and they should take that into account |

Would the OR be happy at someone not having the money because they've gone on strike though?
I'm in the same position as you as you are obviously public sector and whilst I'm not bankrupt I won't be going on strike - just can't afford to.

| The OR does not take any opinion at all, you dont have to work for instance, the OR simply takes the surplus if you have one, they never tell you that you should work or do more or less hours |

I'm aware of that but I would have thought that deliberating withdrawing your labour for however long might be different.
I do know of someone who went BR, had an IPA and when they had a pay cut the IPA wasn't reduced by the same amount.
Be interesting to read Bigal's take on this.

Hi,
I think loss of income through strike action, would depend upon whether it was properly balloted, and so lawfully mandated,as opposed to someone intentionally stopping work, just so they couldn't pay into an IPA.
Which then knocks onto IPA variations, and as the technical manual states, if there is a change in circumstances, then if due to lower income, then MB should be informed so that MB can then review through completion of I&E.

thanks all for the comments.
i'm hoping so much we don't go on strike but at the same time the government keeps pushing and pushing and something's gonna snap somewhere along the line.
strike or not i will be at westminster with my colleagues on 26 march.
