Hello Experts. I am currently second guessing my going forward with a bankruptcy petition. I have sought advice from a debt adviser who said I was a perfect candidate (but was going to charge £2K for their help). I have since been reading and informing myself of the process, to see if paying this sort of money for help is justifiable or needed.
My full story is long and complicated. What is the best way to approach one of you for advise or direction?
Thank you. |

The experts who post on the forum have their contact details in their profiles and will be able to advise you.
2k is a lot of money - what were the company going to do for that?

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Yes it is.. complete the forms, file for me, and deal with any creditors now and in the future... Not a lot from where I was sitting at the time... Plus I felt it was quite deceptive/unethical to tell me to apply for another credit card for £2K borrowing to pay for it...
I couldn't see how to contact the experts through their profile... I must be missing something.. I'll look again.

That is shocking advice! There are some very good BR assist firms, but as you've now found out there are also some very bad ones.
Each of the experts has a link in their signature or in their profile with their contact details.

Thank you Viki. After thinking about it for 24 hours it just made me feel so uneasy, I told them I would not be using their services. They were recommended by a friend who said that they were charged £500 3 years ago...
I guess my question at the moment is I have been shuffling debt for 5 years between my business and myself and have never had a late or missed payment. To me, I felt like I was handling things... but in retrospect(reality??) I"m not. I'm no better off then I was 5 years ago... just older and less able to work 20 hours a day...
Does this shuffling make me look bad to the OR/BR courts? Will this cause me to have an extended BR or an intensive interview??
Thanks

It won't make you look bad to the OR as they see this sort of thing every day.
You will be discharged from BR after 1 year, and unless the OR thinks you've been reckless (and I'm not suggesting that you have!) you won't get a BRU.

Thank you Richard for the empathy and understanding.
Thank you Tracey for the info too... I suspect they have seen it all.. but it sure feels different when its you going it through it, not just reading and thinking about it...
