Hi, I have not been on here for quite a while, too long in fact, I am hating life at the moment whilst struggling to save money for the bakruptcy costs, each time we have fair amount saved, something happens. I have a partner who unfortunately seems to bury her head in the sand and be blazay about our a situation.

I have for a long time believed that bankruptcy was the only line of action for us to lift the huge weight on my shoulders. I am going to speak to my two bosses this week to see if I can have an advance on my wages for the £1200 I need.

Am I able to post specific questions about BR? I do have a fair few to post.

Was also wondering if there were any chatrooms that like minded people going through the same situation?

Mikey

You can ask specific questions if you want to - I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Don't know about any chatrooms though.

Thanks guys.

First question I have is that when I go Bankrupt, I include obviously everything that is within the IVA but I also assume I include all other debt I and my Wfie currently has.

I still owe my Father about £5500 which I am trying to pay him £100 per month, long story, does anyonbe know how the IP will view this?

Surely it makes sense to go BR together as a number of our debts are joint. So potentially this could be an issue with the debt I owe to my Father then? Also, with my employers giving me an advance of my salary to pay the costs would this also get tied up in the BR?

Your father will have to be included as a creditor and you won't be able to pay him back seperately.

Not sure about the advance on your salary.

Hi kentmikey.

I & my husband applied for BR at the same time as we too had joint debts and this made things easier for us.

As the experts have said, showing preference to one creditor will be frowned on by the OR even if they are family.

Hope that everything becomes clearer for you & keep posting.

Well I have had some good news, my bosses may be able to give me the £1200 I need, should know tomorrow. I fully understand the way that it would seem that I would be favouring my father. Just not looking forward to talking to him about my situation, am feeling very much that I am a failure :(

You're not a failure Mikey - there are so many people in the same position.

Good news about your boss. Don't forget that you will need an extra £50 if you do it after next week.

Are the charges going up again? Is that £50 each application?

I am starting to put plans into action, obviously everything in the IVA will be included in the bankruptcy, obviously anything further debt wise will also be include, for example I have balances with both EON and British Gas (no longer my providers), I have an arrangement where I pay a monthly amount each month to both of these, I am going to stop the payments now and inform both I am going BR. I assume this is ok?

Still not sure how to approach the situation with my Father so will think about that over the weekend.

I think it is increasing by £25 per person.
I'm sure jan can clarify this.
Everything's going up these days!
