Hi There. I was wondering if someone could help me. My partner and i are hoping to rent a house in the next few weeks, but he became bankrupt last year.
I have a full time job and he has just become self employed as a cleaner, but i would be happy to just pay the rent on the house with my salary. Is this possible for just myself to be credit checked when applying for a tenancy and inform them my partner is there? He has no bank account at present but he has applied for a cashminder card with the co-op bank just incase they need evidence of a bank. I don't want to lie and say its just me living there and then him move in! I think this covers my question for now!
Many thanks in advance,
Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. You can try to rent on your own and see what happens. Not sure if they would want to credit check your partner as well.

Hopefully one of the experts can help later.

Hi Paul,
I know many people who have after being declared BR have rented privately and as long as you are prepared to pay a deposit and possibly 2 months rent in advance - private landlords are happy and rarely do a credit check so you should explore that avenue. Good luck.

Some landlords may ask for six months in advance and possibly a guarantor.
