Hi Julie,

I'm sorry, i don't know anything about using a company, but me and my hubby went br in Aug last year and did all the paperwork etc our selves with the help of this fab forum. It wasn't easy and took plenty of time but we got there.
We opened a new no frills bank a/c a good few weeks before the court date and xferred all direct debits and salary etc into it. The OR case worker asked about this account but it was never frozen or anything like that, we just explained that it was a new basic account, they expect you to do this i think.
Hope this helps, its a really horrible time eh?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

As regards your bank account, open an account with the Co-op as soon as possible. If this is the account your normal wages get paid into then the OR will not be bothered about it.

How much is this company charging you to go BR? You can do it yourself for no charge at all.

If you want help then the experts on here would be much better to approach.

It is unlikely that you would be allowed to keep any redundancy compensation

Hi Julie.19

Welcome to the forum.

So sorry to hear of your situation, this is such a stressful time for you.
There are plenty of people on here who can help you with your BR so do keep posting.
Do get your bank new account opened asap and sort out any DD's SO's and wage payments before BR. The co op cashminder account is BR friendly, there are some others too, and the OR's know of these accounts and don't freeze them. It will be a great help to have these things organised before the dreaded day!!

A question for the experts on here.....Could Julie & her Husband use the redundancy payment to pay for their BR/court fees? Just a thought!!!
Good Luck Julie.

Hi,
I would definitely say ignore advice given by the company that is helping you in relation to the bank account, open an account with the Co-op(cashminder) ASAP, so that it's up and running with direct debits etc by the time you're bankrupt, if you leave it until after it will cause you no end of problems financially.

As for the redundancy payments, I would definitely use it to pay the bankruptcy fees, especially as a proportion of it goes to the OR anyway!

Having looked at the website for this company I'm not overly impressed with them at all.

How much are they charging you Julie?

You do need to open an account as soon as possible.
