Hello

Does anyone know which Utility providers show up on your credit report? I am looking to ways to start to improve my credit profile following Discharge. I’ve sent the letter asking my creditors to update my credit report for a start. I know most companies run a credit check on you so they can check before providing you a service but some don’t actually show up on your credit report.

I am lucky in that I have a mortgage, secured loan and mobile phone contract pre BR and I have maintained payments to these companies without fail before and after BR so these are showing up as paid each month. But if there are any further companies which shows on credit reports I would be grateful to know who they are especially if they maybe friendly to discharged BR people.

Thank you all.

Sarah

I don't think any utility providers do show on there, but I do stand to be corrected on that.

Insurance companies certainly should, I think Sky probably does but not sure about water, or gas and electric. Have you checked your record to see what is shown on there?

Hello,

Well I have checked my credit report and the only utility provider that shows up is Virgin Media. I also have direct debits set up with various insurance companies and water and gas providers, but these do not show up on my credit report for some reason. It's funny but the credit report only seems to show those companies which had lots of defaults prior to my bankruptcy and not the ones which show good and on time payments. Great isn't it?

Im quite lucky in that once my creditors have update my records to settled or partially settled I will be left with four companies that show on my credit report where I have never missed a payment to them so Im hoping to carry this on in the future which should help to slowly repair my credit rating.
