i have roughly about 5 debts ranging between 1 to 7.5 thousand pounds. i have not paid since 2001. They havent contacted me for the last couple of years, but I recently tried to open a bank account and got rejected due to bad credit. I want to move myself forward finacally so i can at least consider applying for a mortgage in the next few years. What is my best option?

Hi there

Further to your post - are you in a position to recommence payments to your creditors?
What is your total debt level?

If your long term goal is to apply for a mortgage you will need to have a clean credit file, if you opt for bankruptcy as your preferred solution , this may cause you difficulties in the future if applying for a mortgage. Have you considered all the options available to you?

May i suggest you have a chat with one of the experts on here (we can be contacted direct by clicking on the 'experts' button on the left hand side) or indeed provide a little moreinformation onto the forum

Look forward to hearing from you soon Melanie
