Hi i wish to go bankrupt but i am have been living in New Zealand for the last 6 months. Can i file bancruptcy without returning to the UK, and if so how

Hi and welcome.

You can file for BR without returning but you would have to get someone to act for you, either a family member or a professional.

Have a chat with the experts who post on here and they will be able to advise.

Hi Sharon

you need to appoint a Lasting power of attorney who can attend the high court in london and deal with you financial affairs in your absence.

The process is quite long winded with the LPA office taking 12 weeks to process the paperwork.

As kallis says speak to an expert. i think that Mel expert tab to the left and Big Al are able to assist
