Bankrupcy was applied for by a creditor in June. Apparently a Statutory Demand was made the previous year although I was not at home when this was supposed to have been served. I have made ad hoc payments to this creditor bringing the outstanding down to £3,000. In July their solicitor called my ex partner to ask if I was paying their invoice (additioanl to the creditors bill) of another £3,000. He told them I would probably make a contribition. A month or so later I then got a letter (sent to me C/o him) to say a Court hearing would take place. On my behalf he made an offer to the Court in writing hand delivered and we waited for a response. A further £500.00 was made in July to the Solicitor and we awaited a response. Nothing came until a call mid September from the Official Receivier saying I was made bankrupt in June! Talking it through, it seems they had visited my old address (moved from over a year before) and sent all paperwork there. Indeed the advert they do was for this old address. The OR listened to my explanation and has now passed on the details to a closer offer which I am due to meet with on Monday. The bankrupcy order is made in my maiden name (so not my legal name) and I don't recall the Statutory Demand and it is three months later before I hear anything even though further payments were made and they kept the money without acknowledgement or receipt. Can this be annulled as it doesn't seem right. The creditors solicitor had my new address by the way.
