My bankruptcy petition is in progress. My income is state pension & pension credit. I live in a very rural area. Will I be able to keep my car which is worth about £400 ? |

Hi,our car was worth £1000 and we were allowed to keep it.I think a car worth £400 is not going to be of interest to the OR and plus with you living in a rural area it should go in your favour...thats my opinion but im sure an expert will be able to tell you for definate good luck x

Thanks Donna, the first person I spoke to at the firm dealing with my BR told me I could keep the car, bank A/c (basic NatWest step) & internet. When it was passed on to the next stage I got the exact opposite info. Do these people say things just to get you signed up & get your money ? I dread being totally cut off in the middle of nowhere !

Hi Mazz & Welcome. Can I recommend the co-op cashminder account. The OR's are aware of these accounts and will not freeze them as they are for your day to day wage/bils/DD's etc. There are other bank accounts available ie barclays, We used & still use, our cashminder accounts with no problems. Hopefully someone will be along to give you some more advice soon.

Hi. My o/r was going to take my car, valued at £500!..until i said i needed it to get to hospital. I was then asked if that was a distance issue, or a medical issue...to which i replied `Medical`, i was then allowed to keep the car!.
All ORs` are different...in my case, i had to prove that i needed it, whilst others have just been allowed to keep it.
Just passing on my own experience in this matter...hope it helps!. |
