Hi all, great forum with excellent info. Please could someone advise on my situation.

I moved to Australia from the UK leaving about 11k in debts. I return to the UK once a year to see family etc. I'm planning on going bankrupt on my next visit just to put an end to the letters etc. My question is.... is it possible to complete the whole process in a 2 week holiday to the uk?

Is it possible to pay a solictor to complete the whole process for me or do I have to appear in person?

Appreciate any advice you can give me.

You can apply for bankruptcy from Austrailia, by appointing a 'Poer of Attourney' to act on your behalf.

I personally do not offer this service, but if you would like details of someone who can assit please get in touch via the experts button on the left hand side of the screen

Hope this helps

Thanks Melanie for the information. I've contacted via the experts section.

Could the Power of Attorney just be a solictor?

Also, I'm currently waiting for a Ltd company that I'm director of to be dissolved. Do I have to wait for the company to be dissolved before a can apply bankruptcy?

Thanks again

Did you contact me via the link, as i have not received an emaiYou would not be able to continue as a Company Director whilst you were bankrupt, and you would be expected to show that you have resigned from the company (easy process via Companies House)but that would nnot stop you from commencing the bankruptcy process.
