Does anyone know of any bankrupt-friendly insurance companies? My partner has just spent 30 minutes on the Halifax website trying to insure our home contents, only to be asked at the very end if anyone living with him (me) has everbeen declared bankrupt. In which case, they won't insure! How do we be honest and still get our contents insured? Widge xxx |

Hi Widge,
Who do you bank with? Maybe try them. Or the Co-operative.
I'm sure other forum members will be able to give you some companies who are bankruptcy friendly.

Hey thanks Viki. We've tried the Co-operative and they ask the same questions and say I'm not insurable. What sort of crime are they expecting from me?!!!!! |

On our sister site, iva.co.uk, there is an expert listed called coveritall, maybe give him a call and see if he can help.

Thanks Viki, Just to make it clear that the co-operative didn't ask about my bankruptcy but did ask about claims in the last three years (which I have made when my glasses broke a couple of years ago. So I wouldn't like any readers of this to ignore the Co-operative bank, as they have been very good to me. Anyway, Aviva did a good deal eventually! |

We're with More Than. The insurance is in OH's name and when he changed there was no mention of BR on the website or in the Ts & Cs.
We had a nightmare getting insurance as not only was I still BR at the time but our house flooded in the 1940s and no insurance company wanted to know!

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side. |
