Evening All,
Good luck to Hammy and Tanya for tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you.

Just a wee question as I didnt get a chance to talk to Melanie today (some friends turned up, lovely to see them but I just wanted to get on the phone!).

Now that my head is clear and I know what direction I am heading I've just got a few things that I am stressed about!

FEES!

We are sooooo poor now as I'm not working at the moment, even without paying the creditors!
We have worked out that we should be able to afford to go BR in mid-late August, thats how long it will take us to save the £1000 (no-one is able to lend us the money, we have tried) plus the £251 to transfer our BI, then of course £50 to buy our Life Assurance back (does this cost £250 in fees too?), so how do you pay the fees if a firm helps you? Do you even use a firm for BR? How much does the average firm charge? With IVAs everyone was saying "Oh we are with xxxxxxx and they are fab..." But you dont hear that on this forum.

Questions Questions, I could wait until tomorrow when I speak to Melanie, but you know me? I wont sleep unless I get some sort of clarification on my most recent query!

Bankruptcy is a very different animal, in that you really don't get to know your Trustee that well, and do not develop the same relationship as you would with your IVA Supervisor. Personally, I would not pay anyone to assist you with the forms, your local CAB will do this free of charge and as you say you have to wait in any case to save up the money for the Court costs.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

Thanks Melanie, I've downloaded the forms to look at and they seem okay, I'm sure if I get stuck I can look on here.
I'll call you to sort a few things out re: ending the non start of the IVA etc and of course to thank you once again.

Do we just contact our solicitor for the transfer of BI? Or does the OR conduct this? Is this done AFTER BR?

Thanks for thinking of me drowning mummy its all seeming so real now.

i dont know much about your questions to answer you but didnt want to read and run. Like you were quite poor at the moment but luckily enough my MIL has paid for both of our fees as it would have taken us so long to save it ourselves.

As for the forms we completed ours online and i found that the easiest way as you couldnt miss anything out as it would let you go to the next page without comleted the sections and it also tells you how far through the forms you are.

If i were to give you any advice it would be to have all ythe details to hand (account numbers , balances etc) that way you can wizz through the forms quite quickly.

Like you we had looked into an IVA beforehand so i had most the details already.

Good luck in filling the forms out and managing to get the money together, i think most people do struggle to get the money too, so dont worry about that

Thanks Tanya.
When I found the forms online it just had copies that you could download but NOT complete, although I read about registering and user names etc, just couldnt find the correct page. Will go back and have a look as that sounds like the better option. Thanks for the advice and please remember to tell us how it went.

Hi Drowning Mummy

I have read your story on the IVA site. I too spoke to Melanies Team but didn't have enough surplus income so ended up dpwn the BR route.

With regards to the BI the OR office will sought this out. I went BR on 13.5.08 had my interview on 04.06.08 and havn't heard anything else yet. I was told that I would need to buy back my life policy.

Hope this helps.

Tess
