I have been discharged for nearly 18 months. How will this affect my ability to obtain a mortgage. I have never defaulted on a repayment in the past.

I think you can still get one, but will have to pay a higher rate of interest. Over on IVA.co.uk there was a list of mortgage brokers who were sympathetic to people who had been in IVAs or made BR.

Hi there and welcome to the forum

DM is right - but you can expect to be penalised on interest rate whilst you still have an adverse credit rating I am afraid.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com
