I have read that one of the reasons that someone can be refused bankruptcy is if they have'nt sought legal advice first.

Is an appointment with a specialist adviser at the CAB sufficient?

That will be fine. You don't need to have taken legal advice, but you do need to have taken advice to ensure that you understand the implications of BR.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

I will echo what Tracey has said.

CAB is fine.

Professional advice should always be sought.
