UPDATE I phoned vanquis today to find out where I was up to with my card application and also to request the return of my bank statement, the guy I spoke to asked me a few questions relating to my application and at the end he announced that I had been accepted for a card and I will receive it in approx 14 days, he also offered me a £100 loan that they would pay directly in to my bank, I declined and he seemed disappointed that I didnt take the loan up. So, all good, but about 20 minutes later another guy from vanquis phoned me and asked me if it was a good time to answer some questions regarding my card application, I explained that his colleague had just approved my card 20 minutes ago, he seemed confused by this and said he'd call me back......not heard anyting back yet.
They sound a very amateurish outfit to me, so far. |

Hmmm, doesn't sound too good. If you are in any doubt, cancel your application.
Personally, they have been great with me, although I did have to ask them to stop calling me re sales.

Agree with Viki - I'd cancel the application at the moment.

Thanks for your advice, I decided that I might as well wait and see if the card arrives as I dont really have any other options.
Today, I received my bank statement back from vanquis along with confirmation of my new vanquis account number. Just need to wait for the card to arrive now.
I shouldnt really complain if I get a credit card 8 weeks after discharge.. |

Glad you've received it. Just be careful not to go too mad with it!!

No I wouldn't either! It's odd how it works. I was able to get a tv/phone/broadband package with Virgin (and signed a contract) and also a new mobile on a 24 month contract but the first person I applied to 6 weeks after my discharge was Vanquis who turned me down!
Never mind, their loss :) |

Received my vanquis card today with a £500 limit, quite a nice looking card and I was pleased to see that there is no vanquis logo with only the Visa logo showing on the card. I will only be using the card for petrol purchases to build up a good credit rating. |

That's great news and as pcoventry has said, it's a good limit too.
pcoventry, they won't tell you. I think the guy on the phone slipped up to me when he mentioned it was because I'd deleted my landline off the application. I wrote a letter to them asking why, and it was the usual "contact the credit refer agencies etc".
If all your defaults on all 3 credit ref agencies are showing as satisfied and your bankruptcy showing discharged, and, of course, if you meet their criteria re income etc and you've supplied mobile and landline numbers lol!. Then they should say yes.

Thanks for the info VIki,
I gave them all that. I am showing as satisfied on all of them. I am earning good money now and I gave them the details. Oh well, their loss. I've used capital one in the past I might again someday.
My landline with SKy is not credit checked but my cable is as is my mobile so.. |

Thanks Viki, It's just nice to see it drop off. I'd been told it stays on longer.
