Hi Just want to thank you all for your help in the past, but I have one small question to ask?
I have been trying to get a Tesco Mobile contract which is £20 per month for 24 months, it came back failed my credit check even though I explained this. I am paying O2 £22 per month pay as you go and have been for about 18 months now I want this Tesco mobile at £20 pm saving me £12 per year the contract length is 2 years so I would save £48 in total over 2 years. The woman I spoke to was not helpful even though I could afford it. My credit rating is fair.
I went through bankruptcy in Oct 2009.
Is there anyway I could get this contract? If so How?

Have you cleaned up your credit file on all 3 agencies?
If not, I would do that and then reapply.
If you are turned down again, then you will need to wait until the bankruptcy drops off your file.

You need to get a copy of your record from Experian, Equifax and Call Credit - will cost you £2 a time.
If there are any defaults noted after your BR date then you need to write to the data controllers for those creditors and tell them to remove those defaults.
Don't forget that the bankruptcy will remain on your file for six years from the original date.

Thanks I will do this, what about CCJ'S listed on my file after the BR date? How do I remove these please?

You can't remove a CCJ. It will drop off after 6 years.

Thanks for all your replies but I have written to all my creditors on my equifax report and I rung them too but none of them would take it off so is there any other way I can get them taken off please?

The defaults have to be removed back to the date of BR - they cannot do anything else. You need to send a copy of your discharge notice to the data controller for each creditor and insist that they do this.
As Viki states, a CCJ will drop off after six years.

Hi Daz,
Can you afford to just buy a phone?
These days with companys like GiffGaff around they do just the same as a contract for the same cost but with no contract.
If you can afford another handset I would strongly recommend a Google Nexus 4 which is £239 unlocked. I've just got one and with GiffGaff too I'm getting more than I ever did on a contract for less.
for £20 a month you can get
1200 UK minutes
Unlimited UK texts
Unlimited internet
Sorry not meaning to advertise on this forum but I personally see no reason to have a CONtract when you pay all that extra money for the same thing. |

Thanks again for your help I will now write to my crediors on my list and ask them to remove everything from the date of my BR.
Like I said I did do this a while back but nothing got done and they are still on my file.

Give them 28 days in which to remove the defaults otherwise you will take the matter further.

If my debt was passed onto another company do I have to get hold of these to remove my debt from my Equifax file etc..... please
